Needing help isn’t a sign of weakness. We all need a little help every now and again. And everyone can benefit from overcoming the fear of asking for help, by learning to approach others in a way that’s more likely to be effective. This course will show you how, so you can feel confident about asking for help when you need it.
This course will help you to explain why so many of us struggle to ask for help, even when we really need it. It will show you why asking for help is important and how to go about it in a way that will increase the likelihood of others saying yes when you pluck up the courage to ask.
Asking for help can feel uncomfortable. You might worry that people will think you’re incompetent, or that nobody will be willing or able to help you. But we all need help sometimes, so there’s no need to feel awkward. Learning how to ask in a way that’s likely to get you the support you need is a useful skill to develop.
Often, accessing another person’s knowledge and expertise can help you to achieve your own goals. So, learning how to ask for and accept help from others is an important part of unlocking your own potential. Asking well will boost your confidence and that of the person you’re approaching and can give you the edge in a whole host of different circumstances.
The research we conducted to prepare for this course made it super clear that most people find asking for help really uncomfortable. We wanted to make sure the course was light-hearted and upbeat, to counteract that sense of awkwardness and put our learners at ease. So, we created a loveable main character who’s an aspiring screenwriter, for learners to relate to. Afterall, what’s better for overcoming nerves than watching someone successfully face the very thing that makes them feel awkward, and start to reap the rewards?
This course combines stunning animation with a simple but engaging narrative that allows learners to experience the value that asking for help in the right way holds. Learners can also access take away tasks. These can be completed at your own pace and are designed to consolidate the learning, nip those nerves in the bud and get you feeling truly ready to ask for help when you need it.
Everyone has the right to learn and learner need can vary demanding on environment or disabilities. This course comes with transcripts so people have text options for an media, subtitles for all videos and is screen reader friendly with alternative text.
