KCSIE - Keeping Children Safe in Education
Online Safety
This course is designed to be school-specific content. Access to the internet and connected devices can significantly benefit the students you work with. They use it to conduct research and socialise, so it’s embedded in their personal and educational lives. But online spaces aren’t without their risks. How can you support students in remaining safe while taking advantage of the internet's usefulness and empowerment? This safeguarding online course explains all.
Learning outcomes:
- Recognise the four key areas of risk associated with unsafe online behaviour, so you understand the impact they can have on students
- Identify the signs of unsafe online behaviour, so you can safeguard all students
- Recognise how online safety must be managed and embedded in the curriculum, so you’re aware of how it’s addressed in the educational environment

This school-specific online safety course will help you recognise why students may need safeguarding when online and signs that suggest they’ve been exposed to unsafe online activity. It’ll also walk you through how online safety is addressed throughout the educational environment.
Although this content has been designed to be school-specific, everyone working with students or young people needs to understand the risks associated with online activity, so they can be taught how to remain safe online.
