KCSIE - Keeping Children Safe in Education
Radicalisation and Prevent
This course is designed to be school-specific content. Prevention is an important part of the government’s counterterrorism strategy. It aims to prevent people from being radicalised and drawn into terrorism. Learning how to identify signs that a student has been or is at risk of being radicalised will help you protect them and others from harm. And reporting concerns about radicalisation will help you make sure they get the support they need to step away from extreme ideologies.
Learning outcomes:
- Recognise the role of Prevent in schools, so students can be protected from radicalisation
- Identify signs of radicalisation, so you can access prompt support for students who have been, or are at risk of being, radicalised
- Recognise how you and the DSL must report concerns about radicalisation and the different avenues of support available, to meet expectations outlined in the Prevent duty

This school-specific course will help you understand the role of Prevent in the educational environment. It’ll empower you to identify signs that a student has been, or is at risk of being, radicalised. It will also show you how to report any concerns you may have.
Signs of radicalisation may not be obvious, so everyone who works with students and young people will benefit from learning more about Prevent and radicalisation.
