KCSIE - Keeping Children Safe in Education
Reporting and Referral
This course is school-specific content to help those working in education to respond effectively to all safeguarding incidents. If they aren’t reported and recorded properly, this could impact the overall outcome for the student. They might not receive the support they need. The designated safeguarding lead, or DSL, has a key role to play in making safeguarding referrals. But what steps do they need to take to make sure the appropriate agencies and authorities are notified? This course will explain.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify how to effectively report and record safeguarding incidents, so you can make sure all students are protected from harm
- Recognise the key steps in procedures for safeguarding referrals, so you understand how the DSL must respond

This school-specific course will prepare you to report and record safeguarding incidents and make sure your school or college always prioritises student welfare. It will also guide you through the procedures the DSL will follow to make a safeguarding referral when necessary.
Everyone working with students or young people in an educational environment must know how to respond to safeguarding concerns, so this course is for those people at every level.
