Autism (ASD) Awareness
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder which produces differences in behaviour, social interaction, and communication. If you work with students who are autistic or notice young people exhibiting autistic traits, you need to make sure you’re equipped with the necessary skills and understanding to support them. This course will show you how.
Learning outcomes:
- Recognise that ASD is a spectrum, to effectively support students with a diagnosis or traits of ASD in an educational setting
- Identify early signs of ASD, to be able to recognise these characteristics in students and provide extra support when necessary
- Describe inclusive practices for children with ASD, to be able to teach students effectively

This autism awareness course has been designed to be school-specific. In the course, you’ll learn about the early signs and characteristics of ASD, and what to do if you suspect a child might be autistic. You’ll also come away with some inclusive practices for supporting students with autism.

This course also has an assessment at the end which allows learners to test their understanding and helps businesses demonstrate a level of competence in the topic.
