Creating a Coaching Culture

“Pass it… PASS IT! Oh, come on, they should be making that run… NOW! Aww, I could do better than this!” Think you’ve got what it takes to be a coach? We all do when we’re watching sport and shouting advice at the athletes, right? But how about at work? In business, creating a coaching culture can bring a huge boost to your workforce.

Think about it; if you instill the desire to coach others into your employees, what happens? Well, they’ll all want to help each other, which means they all upskill, and your company reaps the benefits. Your staff will gain confidence and will likely feel a sense of worth and motivation, which means… you guessed it; you’re ALL winners!

When it comes to talking about coaching, one thing usually springs to mind: the sporting world. It seemed obvious then that we create the visuals around a couple of sporting legends then: it’s much more exciting than a boring office scene, even though the skills are transferable. 

We found that letting these legends explain the subject and following them throughout the journey as one coached the other was much more engaging. To make the learning stick, we came up with a useful mnemonic, and even provided some takeaway tasks that the learner can do at their leisure to practice their new skills as often as they like
