Persuading people is a key skill in customer service. Being able to influence others through persuasion helps you engage customers, build customer satisfaction, and maintain customer relationships. You can even transfer these persuasion skills from your work life to your personal life.

You’ll also be able to recognize barriers to successful persuasion so you can more easily overcome them. And you’ll learn tips to increase your persuasive skills and offer great customer service.

About this course

When a customer comes into your shop knowing exactly what they want to buy, your job’s mostly done, right? Even though you can clearly see problems ahead, you don’t need to persuade them to buy something else, do you? After all, the customer is always right.

Unfortunately, what the customer wants might not actually be what they need. With good persuasion skills, you can convince your customer that there’s a better product they can buy. Once you know how persuasion works and what barriers you might come across, you can have a positive influence on your customers’ decisions. This course will also give you some tips you can use to boost your powers of persuasion.

Engaging the learner

Sometimes a customer wants to buy a product that’s totally wrong for them. The best customer service staff can persuade their customers to buy a different product that they’ll be much happier with. We thought we’d have a little fun with this by making that ‘product’ a troublesome gremlin in a pet shop that a kid has their heart set on buying, when really they’d be much better off with a fish.

This fun course brings the topic to life through stunning animation and practical scenario-based interactivity. Throughout the course, the learner faces many customer service scenarios to test out their ability to overcome barriers and use their skills of persuasion. This means they can immediately apply what they’ve learnt in each part of the course.
