The heart of the issue of drugs and alcohol in the workplace is awareness. Employers must be sensitive in situations which might or do involve drug or alcohol misuse. As a manager or employer, you must protect and support your employees in all matters of health and safety, and this training will explain how to approach these situations with delicacy and discretion.
It’s a sensitive topic, but the course explores it in a delicate yet effective way. After you’ve taken the course, you’ll be able to describe exactly what’s required in a risk assessment and recognise any signals which might indicate drug or alcohol misuse. In addition, you’ll be able to identify appropriate training and support initiatives to keep your employees safe.
Many of us are partial to the occasional tipple. And while there might be some funny stories going around the office about who overdid it on the fruit punch at the Christmas party, matters can get more serious when it comes to the use of alcohol and drugs in the workplace.
Employers have a legal duty to protect their employees’ health, safety, and welfare, but drug and alcohol misuse at work can be a difficult problem to handle. This course offers guidance on how to conduct a risk assessment, the warning signs to look out for when drug or alcohol misuse is taking place, and how to manage the issue.
It would have been easy to theme this course around a Hollywood, or music star going into rehab, but that wouldn’t have been relatable for most of our audience. Instead, we decided to follow the journey of Jackie, a manager who wants to support her employees. We see the consequences and risks, and we follow the story through to its conclusion, where Jackie tackles the issues with drug and alcohol that her workplace is facing.
The course takes place over a variety of locations, like offices, labs, and warehouses, which gives the learner some great visuals, keeping things fresh. There are interactions and questions during the course so that they must take in what they are being taught, and this helps to keep them engaged. And because this is an IOSH approved course, you can be confident that the learning is gold standard. There’s even a quiz bank with rotating questions at the end so you can be sure that the answers are learned, rather than just guessed.
This course also has an assessment at the end which allows learners to test their understanding and helps businesses demonstrate a level of competence in the topic.
With a bank of questions learners will get randomised assessments which means if people do fail the assessment, they aren't faced with the same quiz again; after all you want to test learners knowledge and not their ability to remember the right button to press second time around.
Everyone has the right to learn and learner need can vary demanding on environment or disabilities. This course comes with transcripts so people have text options for an media, subtitles for all videos and is screen reader friendly with alternative text.
We take a number of steps to ensure visuals and navigation is easy for your people. For more information on the steps we take for accessibility check out how we make out courses.
You’ll have your own questions and challenges in your business, so we’d love to show you more and answer any questions. We’re excited to show you specific courses you’re interested in, or run you through more of our off the shelf eLearning courses.
