Fire Safety Awareness - Landing Page Image

Fire Safety Awareness

Fire safety is really important for everybody and is everyone’s concern. It really is, quite literally, a case of life and death. So, if you and your colleagues want to stay safe at work, then this course is for you. You might also be a fire warden or designated ‘responsible person’. If that’s the case, you definitely need to pay attention, because it’s your responsibility and part of your job.

What you will learn

Fire is no joke, especially in the workplace. It’s so important to be able to identify different types of fire safety equipment, know where it is, and how to use it in case of emergency. And if that emergency did come to pass, you’d need to know how to escape safely. But prevention is always the best place to start. So, being able to reduce the risk of fire in your workspace by adjusting your behaviours to comply with fire safety legislation and regulations, and storing and using hazardous substances safely, is vital.

About this course

It’s human instinct to be scared of fire. And with good reason. It’s hot and horribly dangerous. Unfortunately, you probably work in a place surrounded by flammable things. Go on, have a look around. Paper? Check. Electricals? Check. Oh dear. These things have the potential to ignite and become a big problem for you and your colleagues. Thankfully, this course is here to save the day.

Engaging the learner

Fire safety awareness is hugely important. So, it was only right that we considered how to present the information in this course very carefully. In the main, the animations are set in a standard workplace. The kind of office space you’ll see in every town and city. That helps make the course more relatable and puts the examples we use in context.

We didn’t limit ourselves to high-quality animations, though. We also used interactions to help the learning stick. Near the beginning of the course, we used a handy diagram with hotspots to explain each of the three sections of the fire triangle in detail. Then, there’s a drag and drop quiz that tests you on what you’ve just learned. Just to see if you were paying attention. The use of hotspots doesn’t end there, though. There’s a themed image map and a ‘spot the workplace hazards’ section that use them, too.

As with any important and potentially deadly subject, there’s a section on regulations and laws. It’s pretty dry stuff and likely to send you to sleep if we don’t get the delivery right. So, we decided to use pirates to help the learning stick. There’s even a handy pirate-themed mnemonic to help with that.

Peace of mind with testing

Finally, there’s a quiz to test your new knowledge and even a fire safety awareness workbook for you to download and read. That might seem like a lot. But it’s a really important subject. So, it’s worth putting the extra effort in.
