Interview Skills

Interviewing can seem stressful and intimidating, but it doesn’t need to be.

This course will help anyone responsible for conducting recruitment interviews to ensure everyone, from the candidates to the panel, has a useful and productive experience. It will also help interviewers understand the importance of preparing, from making sure the interview space is comfy and not scary to considering the potential impact of bias on selection processes.

What you will learn

This course will help you to get the best from all interviewing candidates, so you can hire the best fit for your organisation and ensure you don’t stress them out or scare them off. It will show you how to use the STAR model to gain insight into the relevant experience that candidates have, so you know who you’re hiring. And it will help you to choose situational questions that will allow you to figure out how well they’ll handle the nitty gritty of the role you’re interviewing them for.

About this course

Most people feel a bit nervous before being interviewed. But interviewing candidates can feel intimidating and overwhelming, too. After all, you’ll be keen to hire the best person for the role, and you’ll need to effectively interview a range of people to get to that perfect new recruit.

To recruit the best possible talent for your organisation, you need to make sure you allow your candidates to demonstrate their true potential. And you need to show them why they want to accept an offer of employment from you, too. It may seem like a lot, but there are some simple steps you can take to make sure interviews conducted are useful for you and your candidates.

Engaging the learner

There are loads of resources out there designed to help people preparing to be interviewed understand that nerves can be overcome with preparation. We thought it was high time we showed how nervous people can feel when the shoe is on the other foot, and they’re the one asking the questions. You see, there’s nothing wrong with feeling nervous or awkward, it just means you want to do well. So, we did the research to figure out the best way to lead an interview and combined it with our own experiences of using preparation to overcome our nerves to do the best possible job.

This relatable course uses first rate animation, alongside interactive learning designed to test your knowledge of different questioning techniques and give you the chance to practice using them. Your knowledge will be developed and tested using a combination of drag and drop exercises and scenarios with single correct outcomes, to help you get a feel for a range of interview techniques. And there’s even a handy checklist, designed to help you prepare the interview space and yourself in advance of their interviews.
