Legionella control is a serious business. As a duty holder, designated responsible person, or if you’re involved in work that may expose you or others to legionella, then you have a duty of care to prevent it and protect others. This course is designed to help you understand legionella, the consequences of inaction, and how to prevent an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in the buildings you’re responsible for.
Exposure to legionella can result in people contracting Legionnaires’ disease, a potentially fatal form of pneumonia. So, whether you are a technician, manager, duty holder or you have been appointed the Legionella Responsible Person then you have a duty of care to prevent legionella and must be able to demonstrate that you have the appropriate level of knowledge and be competent to do the job required of you.
· Understand what Legionnaires’ disease is and how to identify where legionella bacteria is commonly found
· Outline the requirements, actions, and records you’ll need to keep track of
· Manage, prevent, and control the risk of Legionnaires’ disease effectively in your workplace
· Describe what the key legislation is in relation to the control of legionella
