This course is essential to anyone working with or around ladders for part of their job, including maintenance staff, building managers, and the public. So, whether you are a contractor, manager, duty holder, or an employer then you must know about ladder safety. If you, or your employees, use a ladder as part of their role, then you need to know how to operate one safely. Everybody has a duty of care to stay safe, follow health and safety procedures (after all, they’re designed to protect you) and learn how to mitigate risk. Which is what this course does.
It’s easy to stay safe when working with ladders, provided you have the right training and take precautions. This course will help you identify and assess common types of risk, help you select the appropriate ladder for the job, and understand what position it must be used in. It also tells you what to do if the ladder is unsafe, explains how to perform safety checks and more.
Did you know that most injuries occur from falling from a height shorter than two metres? All injuries from ladders can usually be avoided by using some handy ladder knowledge. Whether you are a decorator painting some hard-to-reach areas, or climbing to a second level to do some building work, ladder misuse can cause serious injury, spinal damage, and even fatality. Pretty grim stuff for such a seemingly simple piece of kit.
Learning and understanding the skills to select, position, and secure ladders won’t take you very long, but can prevent you or others from spending your weekends in a hospital, or worse. This course is designed to help you avoid injury and use ladders in the safest way possible.
Why did we use Spiderman as a character to help us with a ladder course, we hear you ask? Well, you’re right to ask. If anyone doesn’t need a ladder, it’s Spiderman. But this was our point. You aren’t Spiderman… Are you? Of course you’re not. So, that makes this course suitable for everyone, because you’ll likely need to use ladders for your job, or at some other point in your life. Plus, Spidey makes for exciting, memorable visuals, too.
This course is packed with tips, interactive sections, and knowledge checks that test whether you’ve been paying attention or not. There’s a quiz at the end, too, with a revolving question bank to keep you on your toes. Last, but not least, it’s IOSH approved.
This course also has an assessment at the end which allows learners to test their understanding and helps businesses demonstrate a level of competence in the topic.
With a bank of questions learners will get randomised assessments which means if people do fail the assessment, they aren't faced with the same quiz again; after all you want to test learners knowledge and not their ability to remember the right button to press second time around.
Everyone has the right to learn and learner need can vary demanding on environment or disabilities. This course comes with transcripts so people have text options for an media, subtitles for all videos and is screen reader friendly with alternative text.
We take a number of steps to ensure visuals and navigation is easy for your people. For more information on the steps we take for accessibility check out how we make out courses.
You’ll have your own questions and challenges in your business, so we’d love to show you more and answer any questions. We’re excited to show you specific courses you’re interested in, or run you through more of our off the shelf eLearning courses.
